Strathclyde Architecture
Our research in architecture and the built environment is at the forefront of higher education in Scotland and the UK. The Research Excellence Framework 2014 results revealed that more than 40% of our research is rated as world class (4*). It builds on our department’s pioneering studies of the late 1970s through the work of the Building Performance Research Unit (BPRU) and Architecture and Building Aids Computer Unit (ABACUS).
Our research groups continue to evolve, reflecting emerging issues in architectural design, cultural enquiry, sustainability and urbanism, investigating how design innovation and technology can conserve the environment and transform communities and cities around the world.
