Edinburgh School of Art Open Day
If you are interested in any of the programmes that we have on offer at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA), you may also be interested in seeing our facilities and studios. We have a variety of options to visit, which are listed below, and are spread throughout the year so there should be a time that suits you. Please note that due to possible disruption of student timetables, as well as security considerations, we are unable to host any visits to ECA* outwith our scheduled events, so please be sure to check the visiting options below before booking travel.
If you would like to view our facilities virtually, you can explore the studios, libraries and performance spaces across the campus online.
If you are thinking of applying to any of our undergraduate courses, our options are as follows:
Join ECA at one of the University-wide undergraduate Open Days in June, September or October. These allow you to meet with academic staff, attend a range of talks by academics and student services (such as Admissions, Student Finance and Accommodation Services), and take a student-led tour of the ECA facilities outside of teaching time.

The next undergraduate open days will be:
Join a student led tour of the ECA campus (available for Art, Design, Architecture and Landscape Architecture, and Music). Students interested in History of Art, or who want to see the wider University campus can also attend a George Square campus tour which includes the central campus teaching facilities, unions and Main Library.
Art and Design tours leave from the Main Building foyer at 11:00, Architecture tours leave from the Minto House foyer at 11:00, and Music tours leave from Alison House at 11:00 (see map below). Tour length varies depending on numbers and level of interest, but usually last around 1 hour.
Please note that we are unable to include the Film and TV department in the Art and Design tours, due to staff availability and class scheduling. If you are interested in this area, we strongly recommend that you attend one of the Undergraduate Open Days, where you will be able to view the facilities and meet with members of staff.
Representatives from ECA will be attending the UCAS: Design Your Future events in London and Manchester. We would be delighted to meet you and answer any questions you have about our degrees and studying in Edinburgh.
This year's UCAS: Design Your Future events are still to be confirmed - please check the UCAS website for updates.
If you have already applied and are holding an offer with us and would like to visit, our options are as follows:
- Post-offer visit days
- Applicant days
Post Offer Visit Days are for invited offer holders only. This is an opportunity for successful applicants to learn more about their subject areas and life as a student at the University of Edinburgh. There will be School-wide welcome talks, subject information sessions, an information fair, and tours of the Main Library and Centre for Sport and Exercise. You will also have the opportunity to see examples of undergraduate student accommodation at Pollock Halls.
Applicant Days are held in February/March for Art and Design and are for 2nd year entry only. These days are for students who have been selected and invited along following submission of their mini-portfolio stage. The applicant days are our opportunity to review your full portfolio, let you meet with academic staff leading your chosen programme of study and - if you haven’t already - take a tour of our campus and facilities. Applicant days are part of the wider selection process and offers of admission are made to successful candidates after the applicant days.
Please remember that this event is by invitation only, and you will receive all necesarry informtaion should you be sucessful.
