As part of our second cohort joining the BSc Architecture course in 2017, you will have the opportunity of securing an annual £2, 000 scholarship for each of the three years of the undergraduate degree*.

World-renowned research

The University of Reading's research impact for the architecture, built environment and planning was ranked third in the UK in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) results. Students will benefit from research-lead teaching, for example our work on sustainability and building information modelling (BIM) will feed directly into the architecture course.

24-hour access

Students will also have 24-hour access to a dedicated individual studio work space within a newly refurbished historic building on our landscaped campus. They will be able to take advantage of workshops and other state-of-the-art facilities to support their learning experience.

Industry links

The University of Reading is internationally renowned for disciplines related to the built environment, and our links with industry are well established. We will work alongside businesses from across the sector to ensure that students have the opportunity to complete a wide range of work experience placements.

BUILDING CAREERS

Graduates of the School of Construction Management and Engineering (soon to be The School of the Built Environment) have very high employment rates and rates of securing professional or managerial jobs within six months of graduating.

The Architects Registration Board (ARB) has prescribed our BSc (Hons) Architecture degree under the Architects Act 1997. We will also be applying for validation by the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects).

Final year students will have the chance to showcase their work to potential employers at an end of year show, and will be provided with career support opportunities such as mentoring and mock interviews.

Typical roles of BSc Architecture graduates will include those of architectural assistant and, after qualification, architect. They will also be well-placed to move into other careers within the sector, such as project management, planning, estate management, surveying, urban design. Other opportunities include careers in graphic design, interior design or the gaming industry.
